Fighting for our lakes

Devil's Lake - 9/30/2017

Hiking through Devil's Lake State Park this weekend showcased the huge lake and blue waters. Sauk County used innovative technology back in the early 2000's to reduce phosphorus in their lake, and thereby decrease the algae blooms. Their challenges are not the same as ours in the Yahara Watershed, but the results are lovely. We need to focus on reducing the legacy phosphorus that's trapped in much of our lakes and contributing to dangerous algae blooms every summer. I'm eager to work with County staff to find innovative solutions to this long-term problem
