Stand Up, Clean Up, Follow Through

I'll be at Elver park from 11 - 1pm ish. Here are the details from Indivisible's event page:

At last Sunday's vigil for Charlottesville, we stood together on the steps of the Capitol and pledged to step up and work together. Alder Barbara H. McKinney shared with us a cleanup initiative at Elver Park, and invited all of us to attend. Let's follow through and show up to help.

Here is how Alder McKinney describes it: "Operation Clean Sweep is a reinvestment into a neighborhood that desperately needs some attention. Clean-up, fix-up, paint-up, build-up relationships, re-owning community pride. The goal is also to restore the sense of community working together."

We will meet at Elver Park (1250 McKenna Blvd.) where there is adequate parking. We will then join other volunteers assembled across the street at the closed Old Griff's Resturant (1233 McKenna Blvd.) and organize ourselves into teams. The location in the park where the cleanup will take place is called the Crossings. Volunteers will be given instructions and will always work in teams.

For your own safety, please wear long pants and closed-toe shoes - no sandals. Leave valuables at home.
